Bearings can be of the open type with no seals (you can see the steel balls) or sealed with either rubber or metal seals. Also if replacing gearbox bearings look to see if the bearing is marked with a C3 mark, this indicates extra internal clearance on the raceway (most important to prevent bearing seizure at high speed). Bearings are identified by numbers stamped on the outer or inner rings. If there are no numbers please give us a call with the dimensions and we will help you to identify the bearing you require
